Patti Shelton, Preschool Director ABOUT USMountain View Preschool is sponsored by Mountain View United Methodist Church and is licensed through the State of Arizona. Although formal religious instruction is not a part of the curriculum, spiritual values such as love, trust, and concern for others are an integral part of the program. This program was started based on a need for more quality early childhood programs in our community. Our preschool program offers developmentally appropriate activities geared to expand each child’s learning experience. We feel that it is important to have a low child to adult ratio and vow to maintain no more than a 20 (or less) children to 3 (or 4)adult ratio at all times. Enrollment is offered to all potty trained children ages 3 to 5. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 - 11:30. Our start and end dates and holiday closures will follow that of the local Elementary Schools and will be posted on each months calendar. FAMILYMountain View Preschool is a family oriented program. We feel that your involvement in your child's education is of utmost importance. We also feel that by forming a partnership with parents we can provide the best and most positive learning environment and experience for your child. We therefore request that each parent (grandparent, or other family member) volunteer in the classroom at least one class period per month. We encourage a working, open, communicative relationship between staff and family . We promise to listen to your concerns and work with you to help your child and family in any way we can. We encourage you to take an active roll in your child's education. Another part of parent participation will include each parent bringing a snack to feed all the children 1 day a month. We will provide you with appropriate snack guidelines and encourage you to have your child be a part of choosing snack items. Each child will be recognized and thanked by the students on their snack day. This makes them feel important and special to their classmates. FUN AND LEARNING GO HAND AND HANDThroughout the course of a school year your child will learn about friends and families. They will be encouraged to be polite, treat others with kindness and to communicate their feelings. We will be doing a great deal of creative art and discovering about: weather, our bodies, our environment, animals, plants, nutrition, and the list goes on. We encourage the children to be problem solvers about their environment and their disagreements with others. Music is a priority and we will be writing our own books and poems and illustrating them. Dramatic play and role-playing by use of puppets will be integrated. The children will take an active part in their learning and have a say in what direction it will go. We can learn much by listening to the children. Our daily schedules are organized yet flexible, allowing the children freedom to explore their environment. “Children value themselves to the degree they have been valued” - Dorothy Briggs MISSION STATEMENTIt is the purpose of Mountain View Preschool to provide an early childhood education program to the children in our community that promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of each child. We will value each child’s thoughts and feelings in order to help them know they are an important part of our society. GOALS Our goals are:
Our program offers three tuition plans based on the age and need of the children and the financial abilities of the parents. We do encourage younger children to enroll in the 2 day program and older children to enroll in the 3 day program. We, also, offer 5 day programs for 4 years olds. Tuition is due the 1st of each month and becomes late if not paid by the 10th of the month. There will be a $10 late charge on all delinquent accounts. Your $50 deposit reserves a place for your child in our program whether or not they are present. Tuition is calculated on the cost of the entire year , therefore, months with holiday closures will cost the same as those without. |
